Allotment Open Day – 31st August 2024

We couldn't have asked for a better day as our annual Allotment Day wrapped up summer with glorious weather and an incredible turnout.

Raffle

The raffle was one of the most anticipated events of the day, bringing plenty of excitement and support from the community. We couldn’t have done it without the generous donations that made it all possible.

A special thank you to the local businesses who contributed fantastic prizes: Motor World, Whitmore & White, Libby’s Wine, Greyturtle Digital Marketing, Flourish of Sutton Weaver Florists, Costa, and Gleaves - as well as many individual members of our allotment community!

Your support was invaluable and played a huge part in making the day so enjoyable for everyone!

Cake Station & Rotary Club BBQ

There is always time for cake and our allotment holders ensured we were not short with a bounty of delicious offerings to choose from!

In addition to the cake, we were thrilled that the Rotary Club could offer a fantastic array of barbecued goodies on the day. The sizzling aroma in the air was mouth-watering!

Kiddies Corner

Kiddies' Corner was a huge hit with families, offering a range of activities that kept little ones entertained. The sun-catcher butterfly wings craft added a splash of color, while rock painting and bulb planting allowed children to get creative and hands-on with nature.

Face Painting

From beautiful butterflies to fierce tigers, our talented face painters brought smiles to everyone who stopped by.

It was lovely to see so many colourful faces around the allotment!

Rock Painting

A big thank you to @FrodshamRocks for hosting the rock painting activity, which was a huge hit with the kids!

Young visitors had a fantastic time unleashing their creativity onto their chosen 'rocks' and each went home with their own precious keepsake from the day.

...keep your eyes peeled when wondering around Frodsham for any more of #FrodshamRocks 🤘 hidden gems!

Suncatcher Butterfly Wings

Children had a wonderful time bringing their own set of butterfly wings to life and there were many colourful butterflies flying around the allotment that afternoon!

The vibrant translucent materials of the suncatchers gleamed beautifully in the light casting rainbow reflections onto the ground.

If you would like to make a set of your own there are many resources online, have a go! 🦋

Scarecrow Trail

Uncovering the hidden anagram—sunflower seeds—was enjoyed by many families, who eagerly explored the allotments visiting each plot to spot the inventive scarecrows crafted by our talented community members.

It was a delightful way to engage everyone, young and old, in the day’s fun!
